Mobile Forensics examines mobile devices and related technologies used across diverse network carriers. Students will identify, collect, preserve, and analyze critical data retrieved from mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, GPS devices, and laptops. Recovered data may include call logs, text messages, multimedia files, application data, and Internet artifacts. Students will correlate mobile device data with records from network service providers and apply industry best practices for evidence handling, documentation, and reporting using current forensic tools. The course integrates theoretical foundations with hands-on practical exercises to reflect real-world mobile forensics scenarios.

Mobile forensics evaluates mobile devices and technologies used by the diverse network carriers. Students will identify the critical data that can be retrieved from mobile devices, such as cell phones, smart phones, and GPS devices. Examples of recovered and analyzed data includes address books, call logs, text messages, video files, audio files, and Internet history and other relevant data. Students will be able to correlate the data recovered with records from the Network Service Providers, such as call phone service carriers. Students will apply industry best practices to evidence collection and analysis with hands-on exercises using current tools. The course will have a combination of content and practice work, allowing the students to have a sense of reality in mobile forensics.
