Information systems have become the enabling technology for business. Businesses and organizations that are not exposed, aware, or do not use the latest applications, solutions, and IT infrastructure are compromising their current and future competitive position. This course balances theory with applications through case studies and projects that emphasize the effectiveness of organizational information systems in achieving the objectives for which the systems are designed.

Factors such as the organizational structure and information requirements are studied within the context of ethical, economic, and socio-technical factors that affect the design of systems and the processes of converting data to information, information to knowledge, and knowledge to intelligence.

In the business world, or particularly in the conduct of a business, the application of a strategy, the omission of relevant information or disinformation, can be beneficial economically and even more so in the international context. Indeed, you could say that a business has been good not only because both parties have benefited but because one has benefited more (from the point of view of the latter).

Therefore, organizations, whether multinational, transnational or global, assume that, in their principles, they consider the different types of characterizations that widely affect business, thus obtaining a greater range of information, in order to have a better finished idea about how companies are doing.

This subject has as a general objective to develop skills in future professionals to operate in the environment of International Business, capable of successfully facing the process of globalization, which is expansive, explosive and indefensible, based on an integrative, broad and creative vision of the different variables (Economic, Political, Social, Ecological, Cultural, among others) that today are paradigms in the society where it will develop in the business world.

This course deals with the methodology and follow-up to develop a research project applied to the business environment, as a requirement for obtaining a degree. The result of the applied research project is the proposal of an academic document, in addition to a proof of concept that can be subsequently applied in a company. Of all the courses you take at Atlantis University, this will be the most practical. Eighty percent of your grade will be based on your project's follow-up, the research process you have conducted, as well as the results of it.

The course sessions will follow the natural order of a research process, such as defining the problem to be solved, conducting a review of the state-of-the-art literature, defining a project proposal, defining the research process, clarifying the scope of the project, planning the project and its deliverables, and delivering the required results.

During this course, the participant will comprehend and apply for business purposes, different algorithms used for advanced predictive analytics. Data manipulation and analysis involve the use of languages like R or Python, but with a strong scope on business applications and the generation of value for the business.

Additionally, students will use the Data contained in Big repositories (Extract), apply the data analysis to the whole set of data (Transform) and use the information in real time for decision making and execution (Load).
