Although skills in finance, accounting, marketing, operations, and strategy are crucial for organizational success, the ability to manage an organization, its groups, and its individuals are equally important. In your careers, you will depend on people to accomplish tasks, goals, and projects; you will need to work for other people, work with other people, and supervise other people. An understanding of the human side of management is an essential complement to the technical skills you are learning in other core business courses.

Although we will focus on business organizations, you will find that the course concepts have valuable applications to other types of organizations, including non-profits, athletic teams, social clubs, and religious and political groups.

This course is an introduction to the basic concepts and topics in organizational behavior (OB) and management. The course focuses on OB at three levels: individual, interpersonal, and collective. We will start at the individual level, covering decision-making, motivation, and personality. We will then turn to the interpersonal level, covering power, influence, and negotiations. Finally, we will move up to the collective level, covering leadership and organizational context.

Business Intelligence has evolved during the last decade from depicting a photograph of the organization, to predict and prescribe in real time for decision making and competitive advantage. Many methodologies rely on the advancements of Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. The fourth industrial revolution. During this module the participant will comprehend and apply for business purposes, different algorithms used for advanced predictive analytics. The module thrives by using the Data contained in Big repositories (Extract), apply the data analysis to the whole set of data (Transform) and use the information in real time for decision making and execution (Load). The Data manipulation and analysis involve the use of languages like R or Python, but with a strong scope on business applications and the generation of value for the business. The course follows a Problem Based Learning and Case Based Learning structure, with direct presentations from the instructor to clarify the concepts and applications, providing space for the student to learn, participate and innovate.
This Course is geared towards teaching students how to apply systems thinking skills to social responsibility and environmental issues and develop a plan for the implementation of the triple bottom line in an organization. Students can experience an entire cycle in action research in a complex organization. They are also taught how to frame policy agendas for creating inter organizational collaboration among businesses, government and advocacy organizations. Also social conscience of the leader and their desire to do a contribution to the company which has changed the environment of the business during the last decade.

This course will prepare students personally and professionally for conducting a job search and planning a career path.  It will include the identification and development of skills necessary for future employment and potential career opportunities.  Participants will develop job search, networking, and career management skills to include business etiquette, salary negotiations, interviewing, and communications. Each student will learn the principles of developing a personal brand, and will create resumes, cover letters and portfolio elements to help communicate their brand and pursue their career objectives. This is a required course for all majors.
