The aim of this course is to provide students with the why, where, how, and what of public administration. It begins with the foundation of public health including history, legal basis, ethics, healthcare policy, and social determinants of health that constitute the “why “of public administration. The “where” of public administration is then discussed from the federal, state, local, and other associated states and territories.
The aim of this course is to develop graduate students’ leadership, ethical reasoning, and strategic communication skills within the context of healthcare negotiation and conflict resolution. Students will explore leadership styles, emotional intelligence, negotiation techniques, and ethical frameworks to effectively engage in healthcare-related decision-making. Emphasis is placed on collaboration, organizational awareness, social responsibility, and human factors influencing negotiation. Through case studies, simulations, and role-play, students will build the competencies required to lead diverse teams, evaluate complex conflict situations, and negotiate ethically in multi-stakeholder environments.
Throughout the course, students will engage in case studies, interactive simulations, policy evaluations, and role-playing exercises to strengthen their competencies in team leadership, organizational awareness, project management, and quality improvement. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to manage conflict, lead negotiation processes with ethical integrity, and promote equitable outcomes in healthcare coordination at the local, national, and global levels.
